Steps to Planning Your Own Wedding

Setting Wedding Goals 👍👏

So, you are getting ready to plan your perfect wedding and don't know what, where, when and how. Here are the things you need to do.

Analyze Your Spending

Start by analyzing your current spending habits to see where you need to make changes. Don't forget to include both your bills (credit card bills, etc). If you both have credit card bills, you should consider postponing your wedding date and fix these issues.

Once you have a budget, it’s time to go through your spending to figure out where you need to cut back in preparation for your wedding day. This is especially urgent if you are spending more than what your budget allows.

Keep in mind, you don’t want to take out a loan or use a credit card to pay for all or part of your wedding. We know credit cards are offering zero interest until 2021; very tempting, but risky.

Financing your wedding day this way, will leave you in debt right off the bat and may take years to pay off. In our humble opinion, being in debt is the worse way to start your first day as a couple.💔

As studies show from Utah State University in 2011, one of the biggest contributors to trouble in marriages is financial issues (For Richer or Poorer: Money as a Topic Marital Conflict in the Home). The quickest way to end a happy marriage is constant bickering over bills and insecurity brought on by mounting debt.

Our goal is to help you prevent the unnecessary heartache that befalls unfortunate couples who overextend their financial capacity even before the marriage begins.

So, let’s say you’re spending so far has exceeded your wedding budget of $25,000 and does not include, all the things on your wedding expense list - (See our article on – How to plan your Wedding on a Budget, here). This means you need to determine your top priority and find areas you can do without.
